I LOVE it. The kind of story I ascribe to teach my students how to write, but which is, sadly, beyond all of their grasps. Have you written more like this? If not, you should. You are a natural writer, with natural "voice," which is actually the HARDEST trait to TEACH anyone. You either have it, or you don't, in my humble little opinion. You do. Great story.
